Attendees include children with diabetes and their families. This event has been held in the Teaching Center at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park, NY. Previous guest speakers have included Miss Nicole Johnson-Baker, Miss America, Kevin Covais, American Idol finalist, Will Cross, world mountain climber, to name a few. We take care of over 1,000 children with diabetes. We are a recognized American Diabetes Association Diabetes Education Center and see take care of over 100 newly diagnosed families per year..jpg)
MESSAGE: Hello, My name is Audrey Cox and I am writing in hopes that this actually reaches Crystal. My reason for writing is Crystal is a good friend of my cousin, Laura Rochowiak. They grew up together and actually went to diabetes camp together when they were younger. And i was hoping that there was some way I could possibly get a return email or a letter from her in regards to this message. The point of writing is to ask if Crystal could by any chance help me out with a wedding present idea I had for Laura. Laura will be getting married September 3, 2011 and I know it would be the best present I could ever give her on her wedding day is, if possible, Crystal could come and surprise her on her special day. Laura and I have not always had the best of a relationship growing up and I want to be able to make up for all the wrongs that have happened in our past. I want Laura to have a memorable wedding day and I want to be able to do that for her. I know this is a long shot and I have my fingers crossed but I thought I’ll never know if its possible unless I try. And also the fact that Laura and Crystal have been friends way before Crystal became a celebrity, I was hoping, anyways.
MESSAGE: My name is Morgan and I’m 17 yrs old. I started an organizaiton called PUMP IT UP, we raise money for kids with diabetes. My mom is a type 1 and almost died because the medical field didn’t know how to handle her insulin pump when she had a stomach bug. She grew critically ill – was in ICU for 5 days because of their error. I watched them wheel her very quickly into critical care. I was terrified I was going to lose my Mom. The doctors could not figure out what was wrong. Finally, she started to fight back and 8 weeks later she was able to go back to work. A few months

Crystal, I am waiting anxiously to hear new music from you. You are exceptionally and naturally talented. I hope you take Simon’s advice and stay yourself. Whatever may be said about the past is what made you the talented person you are today. Experience is education. Its all good…be proud of yourself as I and many others are. Please continue to make great music. You and Adam were both robbed but, maybe that’s a good thing since some recent Idol winners haven’t been able to sustain interest. I believe you can. I look forward to watching your talent continue to grow. I have a lot of ideas for great songs for you but, you’ve probably been bombarded with that.
Dear Steffan and April: I’d like to make a few comments about your interview this morning with, if memory serves, Manny on the Street, regarding Crystal Bowersox. At one point in the interview someone mentioned how Crystal had said, after the winner was announced as being Lee DeWyze, that she really liked Lee and was happy for him and wished him all the best. Then Steffan, if memory serves, asked Manny if he thought that was for real or if she was just saying it, or words to that effect. Manny may then have bungled his long and rambling answer, since, at the first anyway, he appeared to say that she was in fact just saying it; that she was somehow a poor sport because she didn’t do any post production interviews, etc., etc. (To be fair, by the end of his answer he had softened it a bit.)
I know how it feels when you know you deserved to win. Coming from another small town girl and amazing vocalist, you did! Lee is cute but had nothing on your vocals. You know that. The truth is that there were alot of women more crazy about the idea of a cute boy. He was o.k. but I could sing him under the table and I’m not even of a big show lol. You rock and you have what it takes. Your vocals will take you further than any amount of cuteness ever could. This is just a stepping stone. You have soul and the teenie boppers that vote on American Idol are not your market but trust me- You have one, a big one! Would LOVE to jam with you sometime.
