Crystal Bowersox debut album will be coming out by this year
The point of winning American Idol is officially to score that coveted record contract, but as past seasons have shown, it really doesn’t matter if you win or not. You are gonna get the deal, this past season’s runner-up Crystal Bowersox proves this point once again. Here is the announcement: It was announced today that “American Idol” phenom Crystal Bowersox has signed to 19 Recordings/Jive Records. Bowersox is currently gearing up for the upcoming “American Idol” tour which kicks off July 1st at the Palace of Auburn Hills in Detroit. The talented 24-year old singer/songwriter is expected to release her debut album later this year.
“I’m really grateful to be given this opportunity to make an album and let people hear my music,” Crystal says, “and I’m looking forward to working with all of the folks at 19/Jive.”
Bowersox, who hails from Ohio, began playing music at ten years old. Her bluesy, folk rock sound, which was influenced by the likes of Melissa Etheridge and Janis Joplin, made her a favorite early in the competition. Bowersox says her success on the show was inspired by her one-year-old son.
Crystal Bowersox, the runner-up on the current season of “American Idol,” marked her place in Idol history by having her own original song, “Holy Toledo” played during an episode of “American Idol.” The first female to reach the “American Idol” finale since Jordin Sparks in 2007, the inspiring Chicago based musician recently entered SoundScan’s Top Digital Tracks chart with her singles “Up To The Mountain” at No. 32 and “Falling Slowly” a duet with Lee DeWyze at No. 38.
“Crystal is one of the most naturally gifted and talented singer songwriters to have ever come out of Idol,” says Simon Fuller. “The breadth of her talent is inspiring.”
“In addition to being a gifted singer, Crystal has demonstrated that she has a dynamic stage presence and fans really connect with her sincerity and straight-forwardness,” states Barry Weiss, Chairman and CEO of RCA/JIVE Label Group. “Crystal is in a league of her own and we look forward to working with her.”

people are giving high hopes on this but let’s see how far will it go. base on what I’ve seen, she’ll be stuck in the shadows of Joplin. there are reports that her single is not doing any good too.
Crystal is as talented as anyone on the music scene, be it pop music, singer-songwriter or any other genre. If you have listened to her sing and perform on this website, youtube or elsewhere you’ll clearly know that her talent is immense. I can not wait until next year when she’ll be here in South Jersey-Philly at her own concert and we get to hear her for 2+ hours performing. I don’t think that you can rightly judge her future success based upon the AI tour or her single. I have yet to hear her single (or her duet with Lee) on any local radio station, although I do understand that the “Once” duet was played on a daytime soap opera. Until she has her own album and get radio airplay you’ll see that she’ll excel. She is stuck in no one’s shadow because what you should realize is that she covers a song and makes the song better that the original. But always remember that “ . . . success ain’t about the money – it’s about doin what you love”. Crystal has a great attitude and already realizes what is really important in life. She knows that life is a journey not merely a destination, I wish her success, good health and all that life has to offer.

well, this doesn’t mean that once she delays an album it automatically means good. too bad, but I am looking forward that this girl will be forgotten in no time. so except for a few hundreds of people worshipping her in this site and on her official site, who else will? her fanbase is so weak and I’m sorry but a few thousand sales are not gonna cut it in today’s industry. accept it, it’s all about the money in the long run…
