Crystal Bowersox debut album will be out this Spring (and not this fall)
It was mentioned in the previous posts that American Idol finalist, Crystal Bowersox, will be releasing her debut album by November (just like the other Idol alums), but recently Crystal Bowersox explained it to 101.5 The River that “I don’t want to rush something out just to hit Black Friday sales”. “I don’t think that’s right.” “(I don’t want) just to have a product, but to have a good product, something that I will be proud of in 10, 15, 20 years. My debut album on a major label – it’s a huge thing, and I don’t want want to just put something out there that’s thrown together to have something to sell. That’s just not right.” she added…
Crystal Bowersox is currently signed to 9/Jive Records, toured with the other 9 contestants of American Idol Season 9, and also did a festival with Michael Franti at San Francisco. “I am so stoked, it’s a peace rally, a three-day festival … with one of my heroes.”
What do you think? Crystal Bowersox will be giving us the best album in the long run. Patience is a virtue!

I think it is a mistake to wait. Crystal, as good as she is, is a new talent on the national scene. She hasn’t yet established herself as an artist on a major scale. She cannot afford to have a time lapse in her budding national career. She is in the public eye right now, after appearing on Idol and participating in the summer tour. She needs to remain in the public eye as much as possible. She needs to keep up the momentum and don’t give the fickle American public time to forget her. If she waits until spring, there will be a new group of talents on AI that people will be following. During that time lapse, many will have put Crystal on the back burner. It’s an “out of sight, out of mind” mentality for many people. As I wrote on another comment page using my nickname “Redeagle,” I mentioned that surfers have to ride the right wave at the right time; also, that farmers make hay while the sun shines. Crystal is an outstanding talent but the American public is fickle; she needs to take that into account. Another thing, Crystal has enough good material to produce at least three CDs if she wanted to. That material is good enough that she should be proud of it 10-20 years from now, too. A lot of people would buy it. I can list a whole litany of her songs that I think are awesome and I would buy a CD with them on it. Songs such as Don’t Leave, Just Want to Love You Before I Leave, Not Your Average Video Girl, Sandman, Cry No More, Gray Haired Rock Stars, Speak Now, On The Run, Put Your Guitar Down, Finally Got it Right, Mama, Holy Toledo, Farmer’s Daughter, Perfect World, etc. etc. the list goes on and on. I say, get the CD out there ASAP. Then, while the public is enjoying that, she can spend time in the studio preparing another CD for spring release. JMHO.

I did not approve of the first comment I read about you because to me you are “a natural” and have a wonderful voice. You need to make sure you follow this dream because you “are a star”. I would have like to hear all 10 finalist each sing “Hallelujah” with the same background as Lee had, and I just know it would have been so hard to choose a winner if it were based on that song only. I would love to hear you sing that song because you have the vocals for it! Maybe you could include it on one of your albums…….it’s not like stealing from Lee because he is not the original singer anyway so you should be allowed to sing anything you want to on your albums. I saw you in person at the Scottrade Center on 8/25/10 and you are such a beautiful young woman and have a great career in front of you!!!

“Success aint about the money its about doin what you love” I’ll wait for her album until next year because she is correct. Crystal isn’t like the other “idols” who have rushed to record what are for the most part forgetable albums and songs. with the collaboration that she apparently has in the works, her debut album stands to be a classic. Crystal, I truly enjoy your music and whenever you put out your album I’ll buy it. You were by far the cream of the crop during the last season of Idol. I have enjoyed listening to your music over and over you truly are inspiring.
Another reason i wanted to write is to call hernia boy a punk! I figured the injury that caused the hernia also affected his brain capacity. Talked about a woos and a looser. He probably has no balls left either. Sorry, he tick me off!

Take as long as you need. People today need quick satisfaction, that’s why the stars come and go so quickly. Love your voice and the way you show so much emotion in your music. Looking forward to hear and see more of you.
I think by, whatever time you feel for release of album, is right for you! Forget the publics’ view to release ASAP! NO-ONE has the right to govern another…is not politics we’re speaking!
as a follow-up to my earlier comment, my biggest concern for Crystal is that she’ll suffer the anti-idol bias that some other artists have faced. It would seem to me that if she never did Idol, she would have eventually made an album (maybe independantly) like some of the other singer-songwriters that you can find being played on stations that dont play mainstream music, that she would play alot of smaller venues and would eventually be successful because of her immense talent and attitude. Those fans who would otherwise embrace her may now feel like she’s a manufactured rather than realize that she has paid her dues many-fold. Having said that, I feel like she is correct in her reasoning that she will record and prodcue an album that is of the highest quality musically, lyrically and what will be, to her, a fiiting and deserving first album from an outstanding artist with a beautiful soulful engaging voice.
Crystal, you are the real thing, and talent like yours will not be forgotten, even if we have
to wait ’till spring. I agree with you, this first release, has to be the best you are so capable of producing. It would be so easy to listen to the more impatient fans, who want instant gratification, and push out an early album, not on par with your meticulous standards. And then if it gets so-so reviews, hear all those who are now urging a Nov.

Robert E. Sieli, enjoyed reading your posting! I cut and pasted what I thought was a wakeup call below. I hope you don’t mind? It’s just too hard to believe that with Crystal’s beautiful voice and the genius to write the lyrics to the songs below, has to wait a minute to record an album. My guess is that it is a marketing strategy. The AI producers and the record labels don’t want Bowersox’s album competing with “Ole what’s his names?” that’s getting rushed out while the iron is a little warm yet!
Since the videos of Crystal singing her originals started showing up on the internet I couldn’t help but wonder, “If she is giving these great songs away, how much better are the ones she intends to make us pay for?”

I didn’t read anyone else’s comments–don’t care. Crystal, I watched Amer. Idol for the first time this past season & picked you on day one to win. In my book you did! I don’t care how long it takes to make an album–I’ll be in line to buy! You are wonderful! Please come to Buffalo, NY & do a concert!!! I love the fact that you write your songs–and you are true to yourself…I put you up there with the best! Etherridge, Joplin, Baez etc

I am very please that Crystal is taking her time making a debut album.
Success in the mind of the public is such a fickle thing.
Taking the time to do the album SHE wants to make is her reward for her previous effort. I hope she really savors the moment. Maybe there won’t ever be a second album, maybe there will be several.

After Idol finished I sort of walked away from this aspect of the music industry for a while. Interestingly enough, people on the street still comment on the Crystal-Lee final. Surprisingly though not so much that she was “robbed or mistreated” but that they are ready for her first album. Is America ready for a revival of a vocalist who writes, is creative in lyric, and composes her own music? Pull up a home video with only a few hits on YouTube titled “Don’t Leave.” Don’t compare artists, as with her you really can’t. Picasso vs. Reubens. Different backgrounds, time in life, passions, etc…
Let’s listen to her voice that is sharing so much and just appreciate that she has it to give in each song. Enjoy. that’s the beauty of the music.
