Do you think Crystal Bowersox should keep the dreadlocks?

DreadlocksI don’t know if it is right to ask this, but do you think Crystal Bowersox should keep the dreadlocks or remove it? If you ask me, I think it is way better for her to remove it. I don’t think those dreads got something to do with her being ‘natural’, but come to think of it – she’ll look way better without ‘em. Crystal told the press that she’s having them for four years and there are history being made within those dreads – I am all for that.

I don’t know, maybe I’m wrong, but everytime I see those dreads it reminds me of Lauryn Hill or Lenny Kravitz (or maybe Bob Marley you say?) and let’s put Tracy Chapman on the list since she did ‘Give Me One Reason’ anyway. My friends were all Crystal Bowersox fan but they got no certain opinions regarding those dreadlocks once we’re discussing about it. It is most likely that they want her to remove it so that she’ll look like a beautiful woman as she really is. No one knows.

What’s your opinion on Crystal Bowersox dreadlocks?

Keep the dreds, lose the dreds. I don’t really care. Crystal is the freshest, most amazing talent I’ve seen in years. PLEASE get a good producer girl! Whatever you put out.. I’m buyin’…

Let her wear the dreadlocks as long as she wants, she will evolve at her own pace. As she ages and matures in her life and career, she will transform into the person she is at that time in her life. What’s the rush ?
Right now she is being her natural self and it fits her just fine. With her years of hard work playing in local clubs and the streets, she is not trying to be a Vegas stage performer with lots of makeup and expensive clothes, she is progressing at her pace and now moving to a new level in her career by being on Idol.
So, let her be herself, and if she wants to keep her Dreads for now, that just fine with me. I just love the way she sing a song !

Dreads? What dreads? Geeez, I’m to busy listening to her fantastic voice to be concerned about her hair! Let’s see, did anyone see those shoes?!

Crystal is who she is!!!!!, don’t change her. With or without them, I don’t care. It’s her beautiful god given talent that counts. She reminds me of Eva Cassidy, a little different kind of voice but the persona and qualities are the same. Remember, it is only after Eva died did she receive the recognition we who saw and heard her knew she truely deserved. Crystal is this type of performer. I hope she gets the recognition she truely deserves, NOW. I love her.

She needs to leave the dreds. Kravitz had dreds, Marley had dreds, and others did so whats the problem. If people perceive her as a dope smoking white rasta hippie chick so what. She can sing and trying to put in into some image of everything that’s pol correct is bs. Idol isn’t messing with her look and better not try. She is who she is. If you like her music that should be enough.

Go Crystal – do whatever is you. I think you’d look great in anything – dreds or not! Like I heard on the radio this am – you’ve won, no matter if you win Idol or not – you’ll be on the radio, in the stores – and I’ll be there buying your songs!

Dear Crystal, I hope this message gets to you. After what happen to ADAM last year I promised never to watch american idol again. He was judged not for his voice! SO UNFAIR. You are my Adam. What a beautiful, beautiful voice you have. I feel when I’m watching you that you have much sadness in your life and it shows on stage. I’ve had lots of sorrow in my life, but only by the GRACE OF GOD did I MAKE IT. Let it go and give it to God. This is your time and don’t let anyone steal it from you. HOPE AMERICA GETS THIS ONE RIGHT! CRYSTAL BOWERSOX THE NEXT AMERICAN IDOL !!! Some one who cares.

    @BEV

well, the ‘title’ is still in the air. crystal might be good but there are 12 other hungry dogs willing to kill to get that meat and last night Siobhan Magnus dominates the show with ‘Paint it Black’.

on topic – well, she can keep the dreads as long as she wants

    :)

    What Jackman said, only louder.

  13. Comment by Richard in March 21, 2010 @ 2:12 am

She should loose those dreads! It’s ugly and makes her look cheap! That’s not about being having an “identity” but more like a cheap identity if you may say so. Dreads are for blacks not even Jason Castro comes to my mind. Crystal, you better make your hair lovely, otherwise you’ll look like a contestant coming out from a dumpster!

People we are talking about dread locks, In 1966 The Temptations Recorded Beauty is Only Skin Deep # 3 National Hit,# 1 Rhythm & Blues on The Billboard Charts(Written by Eddie Holland & Norman Whitfield, One Line in the Song is “Don’t Judge A Book By Its Cover) Well People Let’s not worry about Dreadlocks, What Matter is the fabulous, inspiring, emotional God Given Talent That Crystal Bowersox has as a singer songwriter. If Crystal wants Dreadlocks that is her God Given right to be the person she wants to be, and for anyone to think less of her because of them is prejudiced,low-class, and they need to look themselves in the mirrow, before passing judgment on the way Crystal Comes To Market. That is what makes HER SPECIAL, SHE IS WHO SHE IS, dON’T ANYONE TRY AND CHANGE THAT!!!!!!!!!!!CRYSTAL GOD HAS SPECIAL THINGS IN STORE FOR YOU. Go With The Flow and Enjoy the Ride, your heavenly father is right there with you.

AND HEY ALLESSANDRA, I DON’T LIKE YOU SAYING DREADS ARE FOR BLACKS! THAT’S JUST SHALLOW, YOU B*****! LOL!

To all the negative commentors on the Dreadlocks, As I recall you are not God and are not sitting on the throne in heaven, so just leave it alone!!!!!!!Nobody is telling you what to wear and how to look. That’s why AMERICA IS THE LAND OF THE FREE AND THE HOME OF THE BRAVE: Because we have freedom of speech, and FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION. That is the Crystal I KNOW with Dreadlocks, we need to LOVE and APPRECIATE PEOPLE FOR WHO THEY REALLY ARE: and stop passing judgment on them, and trying to have them fit our mold of what WE THINK IS RIGHT OR WRONG!!!!!!!wHATEVER AND HOWEVER SHE CHOOSES TO LOOK IS HER CHOICE NOT YOURS!!!!

Dreadlocks or not, who cares? This woman has it all. Real raw talent; like nothing ever seen on AI before (sorry Adam). Oh, and Alessandra, you’re an a-hole.

She’s had them since high school. Why change now? She is perfect just the way she is.

  22. Comment by JmB in March 28, 2010 @ 12:34 pm

Who Cares! She could look like cow and win this competition ‘hands down’ on pure talent. Personally, I think she’s gorgeous inside and out. On ‘Bobby McGee’ night I was very surprized no one commented her on her appearance, her hair up and a dress..whew, hot!!

  23. Comment by Jaja in April 2, 2010 @ 2:29 pm

she should cut it! dreadlocks are dirty! not that they look dirty already, but most guys having these were dirty garbage truckloaders blablabla! F*** this s***!

I think she should remove them. Try something different with her hair. I don’t think the dreadlooks suit her. If she doesn’t like her hair without them she can always put more in. I don’t think any of the contestants should be afraid to try something different.

  27. Comment by Solarn in April 17, 2010 @ 5:36 am

Suit her? I really do not think it’s our call on what suits her. An image is what a person makes of themself. Metallica had long hair for years proclaiming they would never cut it, yet years later they did, and few blinked and eye. An image is made on and air of confidence, how we handle and feel about ourselves. Dreadlocks come or go she stays the same. Does she like ‘em? The keep ‘em, if she wants to try something different it’s her call, not fan peer pressure. Would you stop liking her music if she cut ‘em off? I’d hope not. She made a name for herself with a unique voice and style (a little soul, a little folk; but all heart), the heart of her music projects out regardless of the cosmetics. I prefer she stay “true to herself” and happy so the music she sings ring true foremost in her own “ears”. In my opinion the music is truer as the person is truer to themselves…Jewel, Tracy Chapman, Janis Joplin, and so many more. I don’t care if she cuts her hair, keeps the dreams, or even whitens her teeth. As long as she healthy and happy and keeps enjoying what she does. If only all of us were so lucky and a little less…vain…

    Respectfully,

    ~Solarn

Crystal Bowersox has more talent in one dreadlock than most of the entertainers out there have in their entirety.
I am a retired 68 year old former Business owner (very conservative) and the only real reason
I know Crystal exists is because I overheard that Phenomenal voice as my wife watches the show religiously.
    I LOVE CRYSTAL!!!!!!!!!!

She could shave her head and I’m buying her music when available. Praise her talent and Beauty. A brave, beautiful, young lady that loves her child and family. GOD BLESS YOU!!!

  29. Comment by Kara in April 19, 2010 @ 6:23 pm

She’s beautiful regardless of her hair, but I enjoy and admire her dreads :) something outside the norm isn’t automatically ugly. Often times it’s beautiful, and anyway, beauty is an opinion at the end of the day. There are many different types.

  30. Comment by Karen in May 22, 2010 @ 4:39 pm

Yes, she needs to get rid of the dreads. Even though her voice is amazing, the dreads are boring, and yes, they look dirty, even if they aren’t. Dreads just naturally give off dirty look. She needs to step up the plate and chuck the locks. They aren’t going to help her win!

there’s nothing wrong with lauryn hill or bob marley, they greats. If she want’s to wear dreadlocks it’s her prerogative, be free, be easy. PEACE
