Crystal Bowersox and the preferential treatment
“American Idol” normally has a ladies-first policy when it comes to the semifinals, with the girls singing on Tuesdays and the boys competing on Wednesdays. This is how things went last week, when the top 24 performed live for the first time–a bleak week indeed, with very few contestants of either gender showing any true promise. One of the hopefuls who actually did all right was Crystal Bowersox, who uncoincidentally happens to be one of this season’s most aggressively pimped contestants. So when Crystal became so ill this week that she was unable to perform on Tuesday, the producers at “Idol” made an unexpected and unprecedented decision: They flipped the order of the girls’ and boys’ nights, so that Crystal could have until Wednesday to recuperate.
Crystal Bowersox survived the first elimination round on American Idol. Anyone who catch that episode of the Top 12 girls perform on American Idol would surely know that Crystal Bowersox is really here to stay. True, she’s not the one having the ‘Idol mold’, she is just herself. No need to fake something like Tyler Grady did on ‘American Women’, LOL! When the Top 12 girls performed, Crystal did an Alanis Morissette song called ‘Hand in my Pocket’. 
The voting stage of American Idol is just a few days away from now and I just can’t wait to see Crystal Bowersox to blow the audience and millions of televiewers away. That’s right, Crystal might not be your typical American Idol contestant – she’s not the ‘girl next door type’ or a wanabee pop-starlet. That will not forfeit her in dominating this ninth season of American Idol. Not to mention that Crystal Bowersox is not a stranger in performing music in front of people and she’s been touring the American continent playing in smaller venues for sometime before auditioning in American Idol.
Crystal Bowersox, you started knowing her with that timeless performance she gave in Hollywood Week. I could watch that ‘Natural Woman’ performance over and over again – but look who’s back?! Of course, it’s Crystal Bowersox once again and this time she’s in with American Idol’s Top 24. On the final round, she sang ‘If it Makes you Happy’ and that’s just another good audition. A very different performance than the typical wanabee popstar with a microphone singing on Idol! She rocks the stage with her acoustic guitar and a harmonica and even made Randy Jackson said: “That’s a real indie girl.”
American Idol just aired the episode before revealing the Top 24 contestants who are making it to the voting stage. Our favorite, Crystal Bowersox, sang Sheryl Crow’s ‘If it Makes you Happy’ and that’s another great performance from Crystal. Not only she’s using two instruments in this final round: a guitar and a harmonica – of course, Crystal once again shows us the range and a great strong voice. She wasn’t announced in the Top 24 as of yet, we’ll have to wait for tomorrow night. Hope she’s making it through.
During the audition, Crystal Bowersox did only get a minute of herself winning that Golden Ticket. It wasn’t long enough when Hollywood Week came through. Crystal wowed the judges and got herself a spontaneous back up singing from her fellow American Idol contestants. That performance went ballistic in youtube. But what about the early Crystal Bowersox videos?? I’ve found only a handful of those, but the great voice is already in there. This girl is already up for the win!
